19 local businesses receive critical violations in March food inspection report

The Monroe County Health Department released itsMarch 2024 food inspection report, with 19 locations receiving critical violations.  

According to Monroe County’swebsite, critical violations are defined as incidents likely to directly contribute to a foodborne disease. 

3 Amigos Restaurant: 601 N. College Ave. 

Violation was due to a dish machine that did not dispense proper sanitizer. 

Arby’s #5679: 535 S. Walnut St. 

Violations include debris buildup on meat slicer and deli meats stored at 53.5°F. According to the CDC’s website, deli meats must be stored at 41°F or below. 

Blu Boy Café and Cakery: 112 E. Kirkwood Ave. 

Violation was due to a dish machine that did not dispense proper sanitizer. 

Crumbl Cookies: 1155 S. College Mall Road 

Violation was due to a hand sink blocked by vacuum and brooms. 

Cup and Kettle: 208 N. Walnut St. 

Violations included a dirty hand sink not used for hands only and chemical sanitizer that did not dispense properly. 

Dominos East: 2504 E. Third St. 

Violations include a hand sink blocked by empty boxes in dish machine area, an unlabeled spray bottle and an empty sanitizer dispenser. 

Dragon Express: 1900 E. Third St. 

Violation was due to a bowl of fried rice at 55.5°F, which is too low for safe consumption according to the NIH’s website. 

Edgewood Primary School: 7700 W. Reeves Road 

Violation was due to a chemical sanitizer bucket at 0 parts per million. According to the EPA’s website, chemical sprays reading at 0 ppm means the tested chemical is not present within the solution.  

Fresh Thyme Market #209: 3600 W. Third St. 

Violation was due to a sandwich cooler at maximum temperature of 50°F. According to the CDC’s website, deli meats must be stored at 41°F or below. 

Homie Hot Pot & Sushi: 306 N. Walnut St. 

Violations include shrimp cooked at 65.5°F. According to the FDA’s website, most seafood should be cooked at 145°F. Other violations include a hand sink filled with soiled utensils, raw beef stored above vegetables and debris buildup inside ice machine. 

Hopscotch Coffee: 235 W. Dodds St. 

Violations include hand sinks in dish area, kitchen blocked by a trash can and laundry bag and vegetable stock near soup warmer than 47°F. 

Jimmy John’s #379: 430 E. Kirkwood Ave. 

Violation was due to debris buildup in pop nozzles. 

Jimmy John’s #1376: 2636 E. Third St. 

Violation was due to debris buildup on multiple soda nozzles. 

Kimu Asian Restaurant: 413 E. Fourth St. 

Violations include medication in food prep area and raw poultry and beef stored with other foods. 

Korea Restaurant: 409 E. Fourth St. 

Violation was due to raw pork stored above vegetables and sauces. 

Lakeside Market: 6050 State Road 45 

Violations include no chemical sanitizer, hand sink blocked by dish soap dispenser and organic debris buildup on ice machine and beverage racks. 

Pot Belly Sandwich Shop: 517 E. Kirkwood Ave. 

Violation was due to debris buildup in pop nozzles. 

Supreme Produce & Kroger J091: 528 S. College Ave. 

Violation was due to a hand sink blocked by empty banana boxes and garbage cans. 

The Chocolate Moose (Production): 5233 Old State Road 37 

Violation was due to an unlabeled bleach solution spray bottle.
