The Singing Hoosiers' "Holiday Chimes" concert, one of the most highly anticipated annual holiday music traditions at IU, returned to the IU Auditorium on Saturday. Two performances of the show offered audiences a festive production and a message of holiday cheer and community.

IU conductor and professor Natalie Boeyink’s jazz ensemble will perform at the Musical Arts Center at 8 p.m. Nov. 20. The performance will be the group’s last concert of the fall semester and will feature 10 songs of varying length, from classics popularized by Frank Sinatra to an adaption of Stevie Wonder’s “My Cherie Amour.”

“And the winner is...,” Riley Spitznagel, Bloomington Delta Music Club co-president, said into the microphone as a drumroll sounded from behind her. Four bands had just finished competing Saturday in Maxwell Hall for BDMC’s second annual Battle of the Bands. Now, it was time to announce the winner. The anticipation built as the drumroll continued. Spitznagel finally yelled out a name: the Raging Ragoons.

Four characters, a small attic and the strings of life drove the story of Arthur Miller’s “The Price,” presented by the Jewish Theatre of Bloomington from Nov. 6 to 16. The production, introduced by JTB Producing Artistic Director Darrel Ann Stone, was the conclusion of the theater’s 20th season.

The African American Arts Institute’s annual “Potpourri: An African American Performance Showcase” is returning to the IU Auditorium after taking a year off to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The event will showcase performances from the African American Choral Ensemble, the African American Dance Company and IU Soul Revue in a celebration of the African American experience.

The Jacobs Opera and Ballet Theater will present Giacomo Puccini’s “La Bohème,” a romantic tragedy, this Saturday. The opera will have four showings split between two casts, with two performances at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 and 14, a matinee at 3 p.m. Nov. 9 and a final showing at 5 p.m. Nov. 15.

George Koultourides and his twin, Vasili, grew up performing traditional Greek dance with their family at church, weddings and other celebrations. During their freshman year at Indiana University, they weren’t able to find a designated group of students who shared this passion.

Cheers echoed through the audience at the annual “Windfall Cabaret” showcase Sunday at the Switchyard Park Pavilion. Hosted by Windfall Dance Company, the evening brought together a diverse lineup of performers, including Dark Side Troupe, One2One Team K-Pop, Bette Lucas Belly Dance and Flamenco, UNi.SON, InMotion and Ballet Folklórico de IU, all sharing the stage to celebrate movement in its many forms.

The Jacobs School of Music’s annual “Jacobs Live at the Movies” concert is returning Nov. 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively. This year, the IU Symphony Orchestra, made up of students from the Jacobs School of Music, will be playing the accompanying score to “The Wizard of Oz.”

In Edgewater, Indiana, a local high schooler, Emma, is banned from going to prom with her girlfriend. Despite her principal’s effort to allow Emma to attend prom, his actions are not comparable with a group of washed-up Broadway actors’ songs and dance — which ultimately save the day.
