The local music organization, B’Town Jazz, will put on virtual performances by local jazz artists on the first Saturday of every month starting at 8 p.m. Saturday for their new series Homegrown Hip. The first performance will feature the local Postmodern Jazz Quartet led by IU political science professor Jeff Isaac.

The Arts & Humanities Council will put on its annual First Thursdays festival 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 3 and Oct. 1. At the event, students can appreciate art from their peers and meet creative organizations on campus, according to the IU Arts & Humanities website.

Switchyard Park will put on its first ever Summer Sendoff Concert 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 4, according to the Bloomington Parks and Recreation website. The concert will feature Matixando and Kid Kazooey and The BallRoom Roustabouts. The event is free, but a ticket is required for admission. The event is currently sold out.

Cardinal Stage has commissioned playwrights from across the country to create a series of short plays that can be performed at home for fun, according to their website. Performers have the freedom to be creativeand can do anything from a table reading to recording a video of the performance.
