Bob Dylan has just released his first eight albums in mono, perhaps following in the steps of last year's Beatles' Mono remasters.

Robyn Hitchcock is an artist I discovered by accident. I was going through back issues of Rolling Stone reading "Fricke's Picks" trying to find the one that discussed Nick Cave.

I'm far from being cool. I'm usually late to the party on every musical trend. There was a phase in high school where I became something of an Anglophile, turning my nose up at every group that didn't fly the Union Jack.
Jaill w/ Secrets Between Sailors & We Are Hex @ The Bishop Tuesday October 19 9 pm $6 Jaill is psych-pop/garage rock/straight up rock n roll at its finest.
Eager to see Margot and the Nuclear So and So's after their recent album release, Buzzard, people packed into The Bishop, filling the already intimate space from wall to wall. The show started off right with the energetic rock tunes of Cameron McGill & What Army.

I had the opportunity to sit down with the vocalists and guitarists of the band Kylesa, Phillip Cope and Laura Pleasants, before their show at The Bluebird on Monday with High on Fire and Torche.
Warming up a crowd is not an easy undertaking. I sympathize with bands that are charged with that task.
High on Fire w/ Kylesa, Torche, and Medusa @ The Bluebird Monday October 11 8 PM $15 21+ Few metal bands have rocked more faces than High on Fire have in the past twelve years.
The last show I saw at The Bluebird was Yeasayer and I barely had enough room to move. This was not the case at the Stars show Wednesday night. "This is the smallest Stars crowd in maybe five years," lead singer Torquil Campbell said. Despite the crowd being small, they were enthusiastic, especially when the band played songs off of Set Yourself on Fire and In Our Bedroom After the War.
Breathe Owl Breathe w/ Chris Bathgate and Vollmar @ The Bishop $6 adv/$8 at the door 9 pm 18+ If you're a fan of The Silver Jews, Bill Callahan, or Cains & Abels, you do not want to miss this show.
I was a tad nervous about seeing The Hold Steady live for the first time. I tend to feel like an outsider at most concerts I attend.
Monday night's show at The Bishop a bit of a mixed bag. I heard one band (that I had seen before) that I don't really care for, but also got to experience a new and exciting group.
The Thermals songs are the perfect combination of punk and pop. This translated incredibly well when the played Monday night at Rhino's.
Stars w/ Wild Nothing @ The Bluebird October 6 $18 adv/$20 at the door 21+ Canadian pop band, Stars were one the first indie bands I can ever remember getting into.
