Mike Gundy Teleconference

I just got off the teleconference with Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. Regardless of what youtube might have you believe he was very accomodating to the media, even telling us we could call him back if we have more questions.

Be prepared to be linked to death...If I find anymore or if you have anymore links relative to the Cowboys or the insight bowl in general, feel free to post them in comments and I can throw them on here.

Twiddling our thumbs...

It looked as if Hoosier fans would get an early idea of their football team's bowl destination. Turns out, it was just a tease. Tune into Fox at 8 p.m.

IU Insight Bowl shirts???

Our rivals at Michigan State seemed to have found evidence indicating the Hoosiers will be going to the Insight Bowl in Tempe, Arizona on New Years Eve.

More meaningless off-season awards

In my column today, I gave out a hand full of meaningless off-season awards. Now its time to hear what kind of awards you can come up with. I'm giving out extra points for creativity, vintage athletes and anything that involves someone whose yet to receive award.

Starr Academic All-American, Pontiac Game Changer

Junior kicker Austin Starr has a couple of more awards to add to his resume. Starr is the kicker for ESPN's Academic All-American first team. In addition to this, Starr also won the week 12 Pontiac Game Changing Performance award, with his game winning 49 yard field goal that toppled Purdue.

Is the Big Ten, ACC challenged?

Well, despite IU notching a win for the Big Ten, the ACC will again win the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Each year everyone makes the biggest deal out of the ACC beating the Big Ten in the Challenge, but many of the years since this began, the Big Ten did much better once the NCAA Tournament rolled around. The Big Ten has been down the last couple of seasons compared to the ACC - which is shown especially towards the bottom of each league where the ACC has the clear advantage (sorry Northwestern). However, there is something to be said about the match-ups that have been made. IU fans should know that a lot of times the match-ups are made for TV.

The Lynch vs. Davis debate

It's not surprising that most Hoosier fans are comparing football news to an old basketball problem. As the ink dries on Bill Lynch's new four-year contract, skeptics and pessimists alike are wondering aloud whether Lynch is Mike Davis 2.0. Like Lynch, Davis's first year was the best season the program had experienced in years.

Lynch Re-Signed Through 2012

Some quick notes from the press conference: Athletic Director Rick Greenspan and the newly signed IU coach Bill Lynch were the ones taking questions.
