So, I was at the Rec Center playing basketball last night. As I'm walking to court 3 (you know, the one with the volleyball net) who do I see? None other than the admirable Blake Powers. Yes, the very same who came in for one snap against the Purdue game and came out.
I've interviewed Blake once before this season, and let me tell you that on a scale of 1-10 regarding how awkward that conversation was (10 being the highest), I'd give it a 50. I interviewed him because I wrote an article about how Kellen Lewis became the quarterback of this team, and I wanted to get some quotes from Blake to see how his relationship with Kellen has been. Probably the most awkward moment of my life.
Anyway, I'm sure he remembered our conversation because he shot me the look that you give to someone you barely know. You know, the one where you look at the person for probably .1 seconds than look away, then kind of look back in the general direction so that you're not really looking at them, though you really are. Yeah, he gave me that.
I started playing for a little bit before I realized that Blake, Kellen Lewis and a couple of the other members of the football team were playing basketball on court 1. After watching them play ball, I've got only one thing to say: Kellen Lewis has ridiculous hops. The guy can flat out jump and nearly had a sick dunk that resembled the "Yeah, I'm Kellen Lewis. That's right."
I know this is probably the most random thing put on this blog, but I thought it might be something you all enjoy.
So my question to you is this. Other than James Hardy, who do you think would make the best basketball player on the football team? I've got to go with Kellen Lewis as my number one choice, with sleeper picks of Ray Fisher (point guard) and James Bailey (shooting guard/small forward). I'd love to hear all of your thoughts on this.
