Drouin collects more awards

IU senior Derek Drouin is no stranger to track and field awards and he received two more this past week - only these came from the national level. Athletics Canada, the governing body for Canadian track and field matters, named Drouin the winner of both the Cal D.

Indiana v. Florida Atlantic mini-preview

There was no press conference today due to the weather, but the team supplied us with a few quotes in advance of Friday's matchup against Florida Atlantic (5-6). The Owls are another team that likes to shoot the 3-pointer, including in transition when possible.

Creek injures foot, out indefinitely

Junior guard Maurice Creek injured his right foot in practice on Sunday, according to a press release from the IU Athletic Department. "Maurice has been doing so much to improve and help our team," IU Coach Tom Crean said.

Guard Bayt will transfer to IU

Paul Bayt, a 6-foot-4 guard and high school teammate of freshman guard Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell at Indianapolis Park Tudor, will transfer to IU and be eligible to play next season, according to a press release. Bayt attended Manhattan this past semester but did not play.

Sinclair, Bell earn first weekly Big Ten honors following win

Senior forward Aulani Sinclair has been named Big Ten Player of the Week and freshman guard Nicole Bell has earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday. Sinclair scored a career-high 34 points in IU's 72-56 win against SIU-Edwardsville Sunday, while Bell came off the bench and chipped in 11 points on 3-of-8 three-point shooting. Sinclair finished 12-of-23 from the field and 7-of-13 from long distance, to go along with 5rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists.

Hoosiers add 17th member of 2013 class

Following his official visit to IU this past weekend, Flowery Branch (Ga.) outside linebacker Kristopher Smith has announced his decision to join the Hoosiers' football program. Making his choice public via Twitter on Monday night, Smith has become the 17th member of IU's 2013 recruiting class and the fourth linebacker. Sizing up at 6-foot-4-inches and 205 pounds, Smith is rated as a 3-star prospect on Rivals.com.

Cameron fired as Ravens' offensive coordinator

Former IU Coach Cam Cameron has been fired by the Baltimore Ravens, marking the end of a nearly five-season stint with the team, the organization announced Monday afternoon. Serving as the Ravens' offensive coordinator since 2008, Cameron led his unit to four straight playoff appearances under the direction of head coach John Harbaugh.That said, the coach has been under fire recently for the offense's lack of improvement, and his newly-implemented playing style that has caused star running back Ray Rice to see a decrease in carries. Over the past four games, the team has also averaged only 19.3 points per game, compared to their season average of 25.5 PPG.

Etherington out for season with fractured patella

After falling awkwardly last night while playing defense in the first half of the IU men's basketball team's 100-69 win against Central Connecticut State, sophomore forward Austin Etherington had to be carted off on a stretcher with what was diagnosed as a left knee injury. Sunday morning, IU Athletics announced that Etherington underwent season-ending knee surgery for a fractured left patella in Indianapolis, performed by Dr. Steve Ahlfeld. IU Coach Tom Crean said in the press release that the whole program was saddened to hear the news, but they were also relieved to hear that it wasn't worse. "Anytime you lose a valued member of your program it not only hurts the team, but also everyone's hearts," Crean said.
