Behind 10 strikeouts from IU junior pitcher Eric Arnett, the Hoosiers evened the Big Ten opening series with Minnesota. IU is now 8-15 on the season (1-1 in-conference) while Minnesota drops to 14-7 (1-1). Outside of a 1st inning solo home run by UM's Derek McCallum, Arnett was dominant all nine innings.

Here's the release from IU Athletics. There has been speculation about such a move for awhile now, and given Story's apparent desire to be closer to his Los Angeles home, it makes a certain amount of sense. The Hoosiers were going to lose some potential, regardless of who transferred, but Story was so hit-or-miss most of the season that he was third in the pecking order of freshman guards behind Verdell Jones and Nick Williams.

This video features two teams from Collins dormitory, Collins Bunny Gamma and the Roman Gauge Switchblades. While CBG was the 21st place team last year and looks to be a middle-of-the-pack team this year, the Switchblades are a startup team "just hoping to qualify." At practice today, I talked to several of the top teams about their goals for Saturday. While all of them said they are looking to qualify in the first few rows, only one mentioned they were going for the pole position. So there's a fine line - teams want to avoid the added pressure the pole position brings, yet they also hope to avoid qualifying in the middle of the pack and getting caught in the dreaded early-race crash.

Bowling Green's Lauren Prochaska sufered a knee injury which is being classified as severe during the final play of their victory over Syracuse in the second round of the WNIT. Prochaska, who leads the Falcons in scoring at 17.2 points per game has been given a 25 percent chance of playing on Thursday against IU.
