Women's Race Recap

In a day full of surprises, Caroline Brown and her team, Pi Beta Phi, came out on top. Brown led her team for the majority of the race and brought the title home during the final stretch of the race in the final sprint. Spring series winners Kappa Alpha Theta finished in fifth. In a surprising turn of events, Wing It and Teter, two favorites for the women's race, finished about a minute behind the leaders, in eighth and seventh, respectively. Michigan beats IU, 6-2

The Hoosiers fell on Friday to Michigan, 6-2 behind the arm of Wolverine senior pitcher Chris Fetter. Fetter allowed only 2 runs on eight hits with 12 strikeouts. The losing pitcher on Friday was IU freshman Blake Monar, who gave up one earned run and five hits.

Pi Phi wins Women's race

Pi Beta Phi won its first ever Little 500 in a sprint to the finish on the final lap. We will have a much better wrap soon.

Hoosiers fall to Indiana State, 9-7

Despite two home runs by junior second baseman Tyler Rogers, the Hoosiers fell to Indiana State 9-7. The loss drops IU's record to 18-20 on the season. Down 0-2 in the third inning, IU junior catcher Josh Phegley hit a solo home run to pull the Hoosiers within one run.

15 spring practices certainly aren't enough to master new formations, but at least there's some instruction before summer.

2010 recruit David Williams commits

David Williams, a junior prospect from Jacksonville, Fla., has given a verbal commitment to play at IU, according to Chris Korman over at the H-T. Williams is listed as a 6-foot-7 200-lb.

Little 500 weather forecast

I'm glad tomorrow will be good and gone before the men's and women's Little 500 races. The 48 degree high temperature, rain shower forecast for Tuesday brings back memories of last year's men's race. But, the good news is the weekend weather forecast looks to be the warmest weather to date for 2009.

Black Key Bulls, Kappa Delta claim Team Pursuit titles

In a 15-lap race to the finish line, Black Key Bulls led the entire way against the Cutters to take home the title of Team Pursuit Champions. Kappa Delta beat out Kappa Alpha Theta in a 12-lap battle for the victory on the women's side. With the conclusion of the spring series, Phi Gamma Delta and Kappa Alpha Theta won the white jersey for placing first in the standings for the three events.
