The Indiana Daily Student will bring you live updates Saturday from Bill Armstrong Stadium throughout the 75thmen’s Little 500, set to begin at 2 p.m.

Lap 200

Under a yellow flag finish, Black Key Bulls wins the 75th men’s Little 500. It’s the team’s third consecutive title.

Lap 199

The entire top of the field crashes in turn 199. Chi Alpha, CUTTERS and other top teams were involved. Black Key Bulls escape the crash.

Lap 195

Chi Alpha holds a 10-second lead over the rest of the pack after a major burn. Beta Sigma Psi, Bears, Black Key Bulls and Sigma Alpha Epsilon trail behind.

Lap 190

Teams continue to burn into lap 190. Fans rise to their feet as Sigma Nu, Black Key Bulls, CUTTERS and more execute their final exchanges.

Lap 185

Unaffected by the crash, the top of the pack remains neck and neck as first place constantly changes. Sigma Phi Epsilon, Black Key Bulls, CUTTERS and Fiji lead, with the rest of the top 10 just behind them.

Lap 178

A major crash in turn three takes out a huge portion of the middle of the pack. Cinzano and Delta Tau Delta were part of the crash, and the yellow flag is waving. The top crews come out unscathed.

Lap 175

It looks like it will be a sprint to the finish. Thirteen teams are on the lead lap, and the top few continue to trade the advantage. The pressure is building as the PA announcer says, “25 laps to glory.”

Lap 165

The group near the front is tight, with the top 13 teams all within six seconds of each other. Oftentimes a team will take the lead through a burn before quickly falling back into the pack after an exchange. Sigma Nu, Black Key Bulls, Chi Alpha, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Bears have all held first place within the last few laps.

Lap 150

With 50 laps remaining, the pace has picked up among the top teams. The top pack has remained mostly the same with Black Key Bulls, CUTTERS and other teams exchanging the lead.

Lap 135

Sigma Nu and Cinzano held a major lead over the rest of the pack for several laps, but exchanges allow Black Key Bulls, Fiji and Chi Alpha to catch up to the duo. Following a major burn, Black Key Bulls holds a three-second lead.

Lap 120

Bears, Sigma Nu and Cinzano are up front, and Black Key Bulls, Phi Gamma Delta and Forest lead the main pack.

Bears was in the lead but had to go to the pit to replace a bike.

Lap 100

Now officially halfway through the 75th men’s Little 500, first place continues to be a tug of war between several teams. CUTTERS, Black Key Bulls, Fiji and Cinzano have all held the top spot in recent laps. CUTTERS held the lead heading into the halfway point, but Cinzano overtook them by the end of the lap. A large pack remains at the front of the race.

Lap 85

LEGION leads the pack, with Cinzano not far behind. Cinzano held a three-second lead for 13 laps after CUTTERS had a rocky exchange and fell to the middle of the pack.

CUTTERS has worked their way back into the top five.

Lap 70

Following brief spells with Phi Delta Theta, Human Wheels and Bears Cycling in first place, Cinzano holds first, followed closely by Black Key Bulls and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. CUTTERS, following a poor exchange, now have to make up lost ground.

Lap 50

Multiple teams have traded the lead a quarter through the 75th men’s Little 500. CUTTERS, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Black Key Bulls have led the pack most of the way. There is no clear leader.

Lap 30

CUTTERS has fallen back toward the rest of the pack as Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Beta Sigma Psi, Black Key Bulls and Fiji have all taken turns wrestling first away from each other. CUTTERS continues to hover near the top spot, but the lead keeps changing.

Lap 15

After a strong start, CUTTERS holds a six-second lead over Black Key Bulls and Forest. Judah Thompson, who had the fastest time at Individual Time Trials, smiles at the fans.

Lap 3

An early crash near the back of the pack on turn three allows the front and middle of the pack to gain ground. Cinzano was involved yet burned to reach the top of the pack. Black Key Bulls currently leads, but the top spot is frequently changing hands.

Lap 1

2013 Indianapolis 500 champion and men’s Little 500 Grand Marshal Tony Kanaan tells the riders to mount their bikes. Kanaan takes his seat in the pace car and leads the riders around the track for two warm-up laps and one pace lap.

The green flag waves, and the 75th annual men’s Little 500 race is underway. The fans roar as CUTTERS takes an early lead with LEGION in second.

1:55 p.m.

The Little 500 parade cars make their way around the track, led by Hoosier the Bison. First-time winners of the women’s race, Alpha Chi Omega, join the processions.

After the parade cars make their way back to the infield, the riders are called to line up as the pace car takes its place in front of the finish line. The teams begin to line up in order of qualification rank, with CUTTERS in pole position.

1:45 p.m.

The 30-minute warm up period has concluded, and the track is closed. The teams return to the pit as anticipation builds for the race.

The PA announcer introduces country singer Clayton Anderson, who performs his song “Indiana.” Only a few sections of the stands remain unfilled.

1:15 p.m.

As player registration closes, the track opens for a 30-minute warm up period. Riders ease their way around the track at various speeds, warming up their muscles for the hours ahead.

Most of the stands are now full, with stragglers making their way to their seats. The bikers not currently on the track still train in the pit, with some fans leaning up against the fence of their team’s pit.

1 p.m.

As fans continue to file into the stands, outside the entrance to Bill Armstrong Stadium, tailgating has begun. At Wilkinson Hall, some people throw a football around, while others sit in lawn chairs, enjoying food.

CUTTERS, the team with the fastest time at qualifications, arrived at the pit wearing white jerseys.

12:30 p.m.

The final event of “The World’s Greatest College Weekend” is upon us, as the gates of Bill Armstrong Stadium open for the 75th men’s Little 500. As fans begin to flood into the stands, reigning champions Black Key Bulls make their way to the pit, looking to earn their third straight title.

Unlike yesterday’s race, which was bogged down by a prolonged rain delay, the skies are clear with the temperature expected by The Weather Channel to be in the low 70s — weather perfect for cycling.
