Despite two home runs by junior second baseman Tyler Rogers, the Hoosiers fell to Indiana State 9-7.
The loss drops IU's record to 18-20 on the season.
Down 0-2 in the third inning, IU junior catcher Josh Phegley hit a solo home run to pull the Hoosiers within one run. After a double by freshman designated hitter Alex Dickerson, junior Michael Earley brought Dickerson home with a single to center field to tie the game.
The crucial part of the game for the Sycamores came in the fourth inning with the score tied 2-2. Indiana State scored four runs on five hits to go up 6-2 off IU freshman pitcher Wyatt Hoff.
In the sixth inning down 7-2, Rogers responded with a solo shot to put the Hoosiers within four runs. Rogers did the same thing in the eighth inning with another home run to center field.
Though Rogers did some damage, it was not enough as the Hoosiers fell 7-4 to the Sycamores.
The next test for IU is a three-game weekend series against Big Ten foe Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
