Scouting report - run and gun drill

This drill was a continuous sprint up and down the court running their fast-paced style of play. Team members ran down in formation and hustled down the court to finish at the rim. This drill showcased the team's style, and every member of the group seemed to embrace it.

Indiana upsets Northwestern 2-1

IU field hockey defeats No. 16 Northwestern 2-1 in Bloomington. This win improves their record to 9-5 with a 2-2 conference record. The Hoosiers had some close oppurtunities in the first 20 minutes, but couldn't put anything in the goal. Until, redshirt freshman forward Morgan Fleetwood scored her eighth goal of the season off an assist from senior midfielder Meg O'Connell at the 28th minute. The Wildcats responded with a goal just three minutes later from junior back Zoe Almquist off a rebound from a penalty corner shot. IU scored its game winning goal in the 51st minute , as junior forward Haley Funk scored off a rebound from junior forward Katie Griswold's shot. Junior goalkeeper Alex Mann and the Hoosier defense held off a tough offensive pursuit from the Wildcats in the last 18 minutes. IU stays in Bloomington for its last two home games next weekend against Penn State on Friday at 3 p.m and Pacific at 12 p.m on Sunday.

Scouting report - rebounding/mid-range drills

The team split up, with power forwards working their mid-range game and the rest of the team fighting through contact with the pads again under the rim to get an offensive putback. Christian Watford looked a lot stronger in this drill.

Scouting report - shooting drills

This was a competitive drill between two groups of players as the bigs worked on their moves down low on a separate court. The drill grouped forwards and guards on separate ends, shooting for two minutes in a fast-paced drill.

Scouting report - crossover drill

This drill had members of the team fighting through hits with padded bags as seen in football drills and making their way to the hoop off of a crossover. It was a physical drill and it showed a lot about some of the players' ability to finish.

Hoosiers sweep Iowa

The IU volleyball team got the 2009 Hoosier Hysteria festivities started on the right foot, downing Iowa in straight sets. The Hoosiers (14-7, 3-4) blanked the Hawkeyes by scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-18. The sweep was IU's first in Big Ten play since Nov.

Official IU-Illinois previews

At 3-3, the Hoosiers enter Saturday in a near must-win situation, and going up against the one-win Fighting Illini, on homecoming, their chance to turn the season around will never be higher. Greg Rosenstein points toward the IU running backs, a group that has fallen off the map recently, to be the leaders this weekend.
