The IU volleyball team got the 2009 Hoosier Hysteria festivities started on the right foot, downing Iowa in straight sets.
The Hoosiers (14-7, 3-4) blanked the Hawkeyes by scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-18.
The sweep was IU's first in Big Ten play since Nov. 10, 2007, the second in coach Sherry Dunbar's tenure.
Freshman defensive specialist Laura Matula shined from the service line with four aces in two sets.
The Hoosiers return to action Sunday at 1 p.m. against Wisconsin in University Gym.
