Diver's excel in meet against Michigan

In the first competition of 2010 the No. 20 men's and No. 12 women's swimming and diving teams return from a meet at Michigan. IU divers took first place in all competitions on the men's and women's side. The women's team will be returning with a win and strong finishes from Kate Fesenko, Nikki White and Emily Smith. Hoosiers in Sin City

The IU Men's Tennis team has been in Las Vegas for nearly a week now as they prepared for this weekend's UNLV Invitational. Head coach Randy Bloemendaal said it was a "team building" experience as the Hoosiers lived in a house together and discussed a different topic at the table each night.

Braun steps up late, powers Hoosiers past Illinois

After a slow first half, the IU women's basketball team came together late and claimed a thrilling 50-48 victory over Illinois Thursday. Senior guard Jamie Braun overcame earlier turnovers and miscues and scored the final five points for the Hoosiers (9-6, 2-2), including a 22-foot three-point basket to tie the game and a hard-driven layup for the winning points with just over two seconds left. "I just knew at the end of the game that, obviously, Illinois was playing pressure defense like they were at the beginning," said Braun, who finished with 12 points.

IU-Illinois pregame notes

The IU women's basketball team returns to action at 7 p.m. today against Illinois in Assembly Hall. A few quick hits as the Hoosiers (8-6, 1-2) take on the Fighting Illini (10-3, 2-1): IU leads the all-time series between the two teams, owning a 30-26 advantage. Illinois won both meetings during the 2008-09 season.

Freshman leaves women's basketball team

Freshman guard Sasha Bernard has left the women's basketball team. In her 10 games with the Hoosiers, Bernard averaged 3.3 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 rebounds. "We would like to wish Sasha well in her future plans," said head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. Bernard's reasons for leaving the program were undisclosed, but said to be for personal reasons.
