Gregory Echenique, a big time 2008 prospect originally from Venezuela, received a conditional release from Rutgers earlier this week.

The talented 6-f00t-9 center, who played high school ball at New Jersey power St. Benedict's, is now exploring his options and IU is one of them, according to Mike DeCourcy of Sporting News.

Echenique averaged 8.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as a freshman and was averaging 12.6 points and 7.7 rebounds this season before undergoing successful eye surgery.

The big man was a consensus four-star, Top 50 recruit. He played seven games this season before being sidelined and will likely seek a medical redshirt.
