The IU women's basketball team returns to action at 7 p.m. today against Illinois in Assembly Hall.
A few quick hits as the Hoosiers (8-6, 1-2) take on the Fighting Illini (10-3, 2-1):
- IU leads the all-time series between the two teams, owning a 30-26 advantage.
- Illinois won both meetings during the 2008-09 season. The Fighting Illini claimed the Jan. 25, 2009 contest in Champaign-Urbana by a score of 61-52 and then escaped Bloomington with a 66-59 victory Feb. 8. Then-sophomore guard Jori Davis led the Hoosiers in each game.
- Illinois has allowed the third-fewest points-per-game in the Big Ten at an average of 57.3. The Fighting Illini have also held opponents to a .339 field goal percentage while shooting at a .434 efficiency themselves.
- Illinois ranks second in the conference in each of the following categories: blocks (87 at a 6.69 per-game average), steals (125 at a 9.62 per-game average) and defensive rebounds (375 at a 28.85 per-game average).
- Senior center Jenna Smith is the Fighting Illini's leading scorer and the Big Ten's second leading scorer. Smith has averaged 20.7 points-per-game. Smith also leads the conference in rebounding with 11.6 boards-per-game.
- Senior forward Lacey Simpson leads Illinois in assists with a 4.23 per-game average and also leads the conference with 3.54 steals-per-game.
