After dropping in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll for three consecutive weeks, Indiana football jumped two spots to No. 5 in the updated rankings released Sunday. The Hoosiers received one No. 1 vote.
The Cream and Crimson staged a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat Nebraska 20-17 on Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska. Indiana trailed 17-6 in the fourth quarter.
Redshirt senior quarterback Josh Hoover completed two touchdown passes to junior receiver Nick Marsh in the final period to erase the 11-point deficit. Hoover finished the game 12-of-22 passing for 263 yards and two touchdowns. Marsh led Indiana with six catches for 187 yards and two receiving scores.
The Cream and Crimson are now 6-0 and extended their win streak to 22 games with Saturday’s victory.
Five other Big Ten teams are ranked in this week’s poll.
Ohio State moved up to No. 4 after defeating Maryland 45-16 over the weekend.
With a 17-15 victory over then-No.13 Oregon, UCLA jumped nine spots to No. 12 on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Ducks dropped out of the poll entirely but still received 86 votes.
Iowa improved to No. 17 following its 41-24 win over Washington. USC remained at No. 19 despite beating Penn State 31-23.
While Oregon fell out of the rankings, Northwestern moved in after a 45-14 win over Ball State University. The Wildcats now own the No. 25 spot in the poll.
Indiana will return to Memorial Stadium in Bloomington for an anticipated matchup against No. 4 Ohio State at noon Oct. 17.
