Indiana baseball’s Hogan Denny was named to the Team USA Collegiate National Team on Sunday, per a release from Indiana Athletics. The Mooresville, Indiana, native earned First Team All-Big Ten honors after hitting .357 with a 1.099 OPS, 14 home runs and 44 RBIs last season.
The sophomore is the seventh Hoosier in program history to make the Team USA Collegiate National Team roster. He is the second player named to the team under head coach Jeff Mercer — outfielder Devin Taylor was the first in 2024.
During the two-week Team USA selection process, Denny played catcher, third base, left field and right field while batting at the top of the lineup. The utility man is one of 28 players selected and one of six from the Big Ten Conference.
The inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship takes place at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taichung, Taiwan from July 11-15. The USA, Japan and Chinese Taipei compete annually, and a fourth wild card team invited by the host nation will also compete.
The USA will host the tournament in 2027, and Japan will follow in 2028. The tournament replaces the international void left by the World University Baseball Championship that ran from 2002-2018.
Team USA will begin pool play July 11 against Korea. The Stars and Stripes will also play July 12 and 13 against Chinese Taipei and Japan. The semifinal game will be July 14, and the gold medal contest will be July 15. The United States team is managed by Illinois head coach Dan Hartleb.
