The Indiana University chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity was placed on cease and desist Friday for hazing, according to the Office of Student Life.

The incidents, an IU Bloomington Crime notice said, resulted in at least three injuries that required medical attention.

All organizational activities are now suspended until further notice.

The IU Police Department has launched a criminal investigation into the hazing activity, according to the notice. IUPD is asking anyone with information to call the department at 812-855-4111 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.

The first hazing incident occurred sometime during the weekend of Sept. 20, according to the crime notice. The next incidents happened on Oct. 10 and Oct. 12, respectively. The latter caused injuries to two individuals. Each of the three incidents occurred at the fraternity house.

Alpha Epsilon Pi was previously on extended disciplinary probation throughout the 2022-23 school year. Infractions included endangering others, alcohol, hazing, failure to comply with university and county COVID-19 directives and non-compliance with Office of Student Life policies.

Alpha Epsilon Pi is now the fourth organization on cease and desist, joining Beta Sigma Psi, the Palestine Solidarity Committee and Phi Kappa Psi — which was placed on the list Tuesday.
