Julie Payne-Kirchmeier appointed as vice president for student success

President Pamela Whitten appointed Julie Payne-Kirchmeier to be vice president for student success beginning Aug. 1, according to News at IU. She was selected through a national search with input from multiple IU campuses, including students. 

Currently vice president for student affairs at Northwestern University, Payne-Kirchmeier will assume her new role at IU on Aug. 1, pending approval by the Board of Trustees at Northwestern University. Payne-Kirchmeier currently oversees many aspects of student life, including housing, dining and campus inclusion at Northwestern. 

In addition to her work at Northwestern, Payne-Kirchmeier is a former chair for National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and is an instructor in Northwestern University’s Master of Science in Higher Education Administration and Policy Program. She is also a published author with research interests in women’s leadership, technology and graduate preparation for student affairs in higher education.
