The Indiana Senate passed a bill Monday that would allow carryout alcohol sales on Sundays.

Senate Bill 1, authored by Sen. Ron Alting, R-Lafayette, would allow liquor stores, grocery stores, convenience stores or drug stores to sell carryout alcohol from noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

The bill passed 39-10. The bill now makes its way to the House, which currently has an identical bill making its way through the chamber. House Bill 1051 was read Monday for a second time but will not be voted on until after its third reading, which could happen as early as this week.
