Acclaimed musician Robert Cray and his band will take to the stage at 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. According to the theater's website, Cray has been bridging the lines between blues, soul and R&B for the past four decades.

His music has earned him five Grammy Awards and more than 20 acclaimed albums.

The Robert Cray Band formed in Eugene, Oregon, and its debut album, “Who’s Been Talkin,'" was released in 1980, according to the theater's website.

During the 1990s, the Cray Band was featured in concert with artists like Eric Clapton, John Lee Hooker, BB King and Bonnie Raitt, according to Cray’s website.

“We were doing blues and R&B from the first,” Cray said on his website. “That’s just part of what we do. If you’re writing a tune, it’s only natural to grab something from someplace else. You’re going to put in some soul changes and some jazz, something you’ve been listening to. With what we do, there’s a whole lot of room to move.”

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the event, and tickets are priced at $50 for the orchestra pit, $45 for the orchestra and lower balcony and $38 for the upper balcony.
