After opening the season with numerous regional qualifying performances, the women's track and field team continued its season last weekend at both the Texas Relays and the Big Blue Classic at Eastern Illinois University. Two individuals and one relay team posted qualifying marks.\nAt Texas, freshman Andrea Dalla Rosa qualified for the NCAA regionals for the second time with her 11th place throw in the shot put. Dalla Rosa said she considers her performance "a small step forward" from her performance at the Florida Relays a week ago.\nDalla Rosa said that she was disappointed that she didn't take advantage of the competition that was at the meet.\n"The competition was great, I just didn't match it," she said. \nDalla Rosa said she was encouraged by her improvement in the discus, after she placed 12th in the event. \nAlso qualifying for the regionals for the second time was senior Rose Richmond in the long jump. Her jump of 6.29 meters tied her for third place. \nRichmond was also a part of the 4x100 meter relay team that finished fifth with an NCAA regional qualifying time. Other members of the relay team were sophomore Ara Towns and seniors Danielle Carruthers and Rachelle Boone. The team ran a qualifying time at the season-opener as well. \nIn the 4x200 meter relay sophomore Karla Marshall, Boone, Towns and Carruthers placed fifth with a time of 1:35.21.\nTowns, who is a member of both relay teams, said that she thinks the team is doing well considering the start-of-the-season training it's going through. \n"So far, we're all doing our part; we're all improving," Towns said. \nThe Hoosiers continue their season next weekend when they host Central Michigan and Indiana State.
