Team looks to end season right

The Hoosiers will travel to Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., to take part in their second ever Mission Inn Classic, which will conclude the fall portion of their schedule. The first half of the year has already produced more titles than all of last year. The Hoosiers have competed in three tournaments so far and have a first, second and third place finish to show for their efforts. Junior Karen Dennison has captured two individual titles, and was the runner-up in the other. \nLast year, the team finished in fourth place on what is often regarded as one the most demanding courses in Florida. The 36-hole event will consist of 17 teams, including Big Ten rivals Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Stetson University is serving as the host for the tournament.\nIn the most recent Golf Week/Sagarin ratings released on Oct. 10, the Hoosiers were ranked No. 21 in the nation, and Dennison is ranked No. 4 among female golfers in the nation. The squad's recent success has the team feeling confident and ready to tackle the new challenges success brings. \n"We've always had high expectations of ourselves, it's a just a matter of if we can perform up to our capabilities," senior Cara Stuckey said. "We want to go into the last tournament the way we started, with a win, so we can have some confidence going into the spring season. We're ready to accept the challenge because we want to be up there with the good teams and go out and show that we can play with them."\nJunior Ambry Bishop agreed with her teammates sentiments and said she looks to build some momentum going into the spring season.\n"Our expectations for every tournament are that we have a chance to win. We've had three good finishes, we were happy with our second and third, but obviously those were tournaments we could have won," Bishop said. "We are just going into our last tournament planning to play well, so we have something positive to look at going into the spring season."\nHow the Hoosiers place in their final tournament of the fall season will be significant according to coach Sam Carmichael.\n"I think it's very important," he said. "You want to end up on a good note. Finishing up with good scores and on a good note just makes for pleasant memories throughout the fall and winter months, so when we start up in the spring, we're ready to start where we left off."\nThe five Hoosiers that will be making the trip are senior Stuckey, juniors Dennison, Bishop, and Danah Ford, and freshman Molly Redfearn. Only the top four scores from the team will be counted towards the team's combined total.
