Education school releases test scores\nNinety-three percent of School of Education students passed their state-required proficiency tests, the School of Education announced Monday.\nAcross the state, 92 percent of teacher education students received passing scores. The tests measure basic skills and content in a teacher's area of specialization.\n"The results of this test are in line with what we've known about the Indiana University School of Education," School of Education Dean Gerardo Gonzalez said in a press release. "We have high-quality students and programs. To maintain that competitive edge, we are continually looking for more ways to enhance the programs we have in place and to add programs that will help define this school as one of the premier schools of education in the country."\nBloomington students received a 100 percent pass rate in 10 program areas, including mathematics, biology, general science, government/political science, English language and literature and education in the elementary school.\nLecture to discuss psychiatric drugs\nThe Center for Behavioral Health will play host to the second in a two-part series on psychiatric medicine April 20.\nThe discussion, "Psychiatric medications part II: anxiety and depression, alcoholism and behavioral disorders," features Bethany A. Murray. The lecture is part of the center's free monthly Breakfast Learning Series in Room 318 of the First United Methodist Church, 219 E. Fourth St.\nMurray will speak from 8-9:30 a.m. about medical treatment of anxiety disorders and drug dependence in their treatment. She will also identify six ways to deal with sleep disturbances without medication and concerns about using medication for alcoholism.
