Widespread Panic to play at Auditorium

Tuesday night, Widespread Panic will take the IU Auditorium stage for a concert of high energy jam rock music. Although a fairly unknown group, Widespread Panic has been playing and touring since 1985 and will make its first appearance at IU.\nBeginning in Athens, Ga., the band has been called everything from Southern rock to a jam band. With artillery consisting of two electric guitarists, bass, drums and keyboard, their sound resembles everything from the Grateful Dead to Pearl Jam.\nOf its 10 albums, its most recent "Another Joyous Occassion" (released under their own label) features 11 tracks of live music from their 1999 summer, featuring songs such as "Coconuts" and "Big Chief." \nThe concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $22 for students and $25 for the public. Tickets are available at the Auditorium box office and all TicketMaster locations.\nFor more information on the band, visit their Web site at www.widespreadpanic.com.
