George Clinton to play Axis nightclub

Happiness cannot be bought, but for $23, temporary bliss can be purchased.\nGeorge Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic stop by Axis, 419 N. Walnut St., tonight at 9 p.m., bringing a 22-person band, an entourage of help and no opening act, giving the Godfather of Funk plenty of time to tear the roof off of Axis.\nClinton's Oct. 13, 1999, performance at Axis, then known as Mars Nightclub, sold out, and general manager Dave Kubiak said he is hoping for the same.\n"Sales are going very well," Kubiak said. "The Clinton show seems to pick up dramatically as days progress."\nKubiak said the intensity of seeing Parliament/Funkadelic in a club environment is unforgettable.\n"Maybe other than the Black Crowes, they're the wildest club show I've ever seen," Kubiak said.
