Asian film series begins

The East Asian Studies Center is sponsoring a series of films. Admission is free to see films from Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, which will be shown at 7:15 tonight in Fine Arts 102. \n"Little Cheung," directed by Fruit Chan, plays tonight. it depicts various aspects of a family's life in Hong Kong during its 1997 reunification with China. Following the film will be a discussion led by three of the Center's students. \n"Cure", a Japanese story of a detective trying to solve a series of murders, is scheduled for Sept. 22. More films will run every other Friday through Dec. 1. The film topics range from animated fantasy to a story of 19th century Shanghai brothels. Some of these films do contain scenes which might not be suitable for general audiences.
