Bob Log III will rock Second Story

One-man-bands have always had something of a stigma attached to them. \nAfter all, the genre was pioneered by Wesley Willis, a certified schizophrenic from Chicago. He has spent the past 20 years touring, pounding out songs such as "I'm Sorry I Got Fat" on his keyboard. \nContinuing Willis' tradition of unusual musical stylings, Bob Log III, will be playing at 10:30 pm. today at Second Story, 201 S. College Ave. The vocalist and guitarist of the delta blues duo Doo Rag, Log has taken to a solo act. He plays his slide guitar with both hands while keeping beat by kicking snare drums. Wearing a pilot's helmet for all public appearances, he sings through a telephone connection. Local acts Niswander and Crooked County will open.\nWith his last album Trike, he has gained another claim to notoriety. Though it hasn't exactly caught fire, Log originated the guitar and breast duet. For the record, he paid two escorts to slap their breasts together as his sound guy recorded the noise. \nHis songs, including "Booby Trap" and "Ass Computer," tend to be, lyrically, on the profane side.\nThe Mississippi native has toured with the likes of the The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Marilyn Manson and Hole. In November, he'll take to the road again with Doo Rag, opening for Man or Astroman?. \nLog has also recorded the solo LP School Bus on Fat Possum Records.
