The Players Pub’s Facebook page posted a captionless picture of a sign, reading “THE PUB HAS CLOSED.”
Facebook users took to the comment section to ask for a reason behind the sudden closing and to wonder what would become of the pub’s biweekly trivia nights every Monday and Tuesday.
IU alumnus John Johnson, owner of Mid by Midwest, managed the trivia nights. He posted on Facebook that this week’s trivia nights will be moved to Bloomington’s Atlas Ballroom but did not say if this is a permanent change. Neither Johnson nor the Atlas Ballroom commented on why the Players Pub, owned by Joe Estivill, has closed.
“Joe and the staff are incredible people, and I hope that they are able to land on their feet,” Johnson said in his Facebook post. “The pub was a uniquely great space in Bloomington that offered so many wonderful things to our community.”
