When grunge ruled the world: A tribute to Chris Cornell

·

Older, wiser, but still successful, Cornell and the guys in Pearl Jam have come a long way from the solemn grunge rockers the world came to know in the early '90s. Yes, they are now elder statesmen with children and families but they have found their way out of the rain and are not afraid to enjoy the sun.

·

All five of these songs are top flight on their own, but the covers made them their own and gave the songs a new identity.

Verizon Wireless Music Center closing soon?

·

Following the announcement, more than 18,000 people -- enough to fill the lawn and part of the pavilion -- have signed an online petition to save the venue. "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot," commented one woman who signed the petition.

Sicko: A

·

Walking out of a movie theater enraged with a high-blood-pressure buzz on a Saturday afternoon is not exactly my idea of a good time, but I'd do it again in two heartbeats to see Michael Moore's fifth -- and arguably best and most effective -- big-screen documentary again.

Peace

·

Amnesty International just released "Instant Karma," a two-disc compilation entirely of Lennon music with proceeds going directly to Amnesty's efforts in Darfur. But the question still remains: Why now? Why Lennon?

Online only: Instant Karma

·

The Lennon tribute album has some wonderful covers, like Regina Spektor doing "Real Love," but there's also a miserable Avril Lavigne cover of "Imagine" to skip through.

T.I. T.I. vs. T.I.P : A

·

And though he might not win points for sportsmanship, the self-proclaimed King of the South delivers a T.K.O. with his fourth release and makes a strong case for extending his kingship to the whole rap game.

Minus Story My Ion Truss : A-

·

The album shows Minus Story shedding their lo-fi psychedelic skin in favor of a more polished, but no less endearing, sound which demonstrates the evolution and maturity of the band.

Online only: Evening: D

·

Tragedy ensues, people cry, A LOT at different points throughout the film. It's more like something from the deadly romantic pen of Nicholas Sparks than a serious meditation of the lives and loves of a group of complex women, which was the lasting contribution of "The Hours," Cunningham's beautiful early work.

Shooter- Film: C Extras: B-

·

A few of the action scenes in the movie are amazing. Wahlberg single-handedly takes out all bad guys who come his way with his sniping ability and military knowledge.

KILLED WAR US IRAQ KIA

Home of the Brave

·

It's been more than four years since Linda Fribley's son was killed in an ambush with eight other Marines in Iraq. But not a day goes by that she doesn't still think of him. When David K. Fribley, U.S. Marine Lance Corporal, died in combat March 23, 2004 he became the first Hoosier fatality in Iraq.

Investigators say pilot error caused ’06 crash

·

Pilot error was the likely cause of a late-night plane crash last year that killed five IU students, federal investigators have said. According to a National Transportation Safety Board report, no mechanical problems were found with the plane that would have caused the April 20, 2006, crash after it clipped trees about half a mile short of the Monroe County Airport.
