Scheduling screw-ups

The IU administration is thinking about implementing two things not many of us want to happen: more classes at 8 a.m. and more classes on Fridays. But why would IU do this to us ... aren’t rising tuition prices enough? Well, according to the administration, the blame for this falls right on our shoulders.

The fall of Cuban communism?

Shortly after Fidel Castro stepped down as president of Cuba in February, ending a reign that began in 1959, his brother Raul was elected as his successor. Since Raul was preferred by Fidel to take that position, it was widely speculated that Fidel’s departure wouldn’t bring any significant changes to Cuban domestic or foreign policy.

Colleges have long been considered bastions of liberalism, much to the chagrin of conservatives. Indeed, campuses are traditionally home to anti-war protests, pro-choice rallies and campaigns raising awareness about sweatshop labor. RecSports podcasts about health, wellness, fitness

RecSports is now using weekly podcasts to inform its visitors about health, wellness and working out. The podcasts began airing in October and have since shown the signs of increasing popularity and have even won a national award.

Professor discusses history, status of Cuba

When his mother woke him up at 5:30 a.m. to tell him Fidel Castro had taken over the government, assistant professor of Latino Studies Antonio de la Cova remembered rolling over in bed. As a child living in Cuba at the time, de la Cova said he hadn’t thought much about the news.

Ellis, Bassett kicked off the team

IU director of media relations J.D. Campbell told the IDS this morning that sophomore guard Armon Bassett and Jamarcus Ellis have been officially let go from the team. Campbell did not give a reason for the dismissal. Campbell said he had no idea if a new head coach would reinstate the players. Grocery prices could increase

From chicken nuggets to corn flakes, food prices at grocery stores and dinner tables could be headed even higher as farmers cut back on the land they’re planting in corn this spring.
