Obama’s death debate

Barack Obama might have rebuffed McCain’s call to delay Friday’s debate but, really, he should be glad he might not have to take the stage. After spending all of May, June and July dodging John McCain’s challenge of town-hall debates, Obama would have had to face all his demons at the debate in Oxford, Miss. Obama has been all over the place on every issue so far ranging from abortion (It’s above his pay grade)  to the Bush tax cuts (He won’t rescind them anymore) , from the unity of Jerualem (“bad word choice”)  to gun rights and many more.

Man arrested after police say he kicked, head-bumped officer

A Martinsville man was arrested Wednesday night after police say he head-bumped and kicked a Bloomington officer. Jacob A. Springer, 24, was arrested on suspicion of battery of a police officer, public intoxication and criminal misconduct.

Wonder Lab’s volunteers work many hours, essential to success

WonderLab, a museum of health, science and technology that was recently voted one of the “Top 25 Science Centers in the United States” by Parents magazine, has one of Bloomington’s largest volunteer communities. NEW YORK – The economic crisis and raw politics threatened to derail the first presidential debate as Sen. John McCain challenged Sen. Barack Obama to delay the Friday forum and join forces to help Washington fix the financial mess.

The polls in Indiana say it’s close. But what would it take for Hoosiers to vote Democrat for the first time since 1964?

Ted Carmines has been teaching a course on the presidential election every four years for the last 30. The political science professor remembers the last time the state of Indiana voted for the Democratic nominee: 1964, the year almost everyone did. Lyndon B. Johnson won by a landslide, defeating Republican Barry Goldwater, who won only six states. Carmines said this is the point in the presidential election where normally the Republican nominee would be ahead by 10 to 15 points in Indiana.
