1. Indiana The Hoosiers find themselves at the top of almost every preseason poll on the national level, and the same is true in the Big Ten. IU returns every player who scored against Kentucky in the 102-90 Sweet Sixteen loss. A nationally ranked recruiting class joins the five returning starters, and Tom Crean’s fifth season in Bloomington has the makings of a deep run into March Madness.

Several Bloomington residents took a different route to observe April, which is National Poetry Month and the month of Earth Day celebrations, with “Readings for Our Earth,” an open-mic poetry reading night at Patricia’s Wellness Arts Café and Quilter’s Comfort Teas Saturday.

Duke beats IU after 3-way tie in Dale England Cup

Entering Saturday morning in a three-way tie for first with 31 points, IU Rowing Coach Steve Peterson said he was excited for his team to have a chance at redemption during the fourth-annual Dale England Cup at Lake Lemon at Riddle Point Park.

Farmers Market features, highlights Asian culture

Despite dreary conditions, participants lined up during AsianFest’s showing at the Bloomington Farmers’ Market Saturday morning. Presented by the IU Asian Culture Center, the festival featured free food, cooking demonstrations, performances and information booths, all related to the Asian community.

Big Ten Tourney next test for rowers in Indianapolis

After surrendering the Dale England Cup to Duke this past weekend, IU Rowing Coach Steve Peterson said he understands it will be a tough road ahead. The Big Ten Championships are only two weeks away at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.

Hoosiers shoot for NCAA berths in coming months

After a highly successful beginning to the outdoor season, the IU men’s and women’s track and field squads will continue their quests to the NCAA Outdoor Championships despite the semester coming to a close.

Women finish in last place at Big Ten Championships

In addition to competing against opponents, golfers are fighting the challenging courses. The Donald Ross course at the French Lick Resort presented a difficult test for the IU women’s golf team at the Big Ten Women’s Golf Championship.

IU finishes 5th at CWPA Eastern Championship

The No. 3 IU water polo team failed to repeat titles this year at the CWPA Eastern Championship in Providence, R.I. However, the Hoosiers did make history this past weekend as this season’s squad surpassed the 1998, 2003, and 2011 squads with 28 wins, a new IU record.

22 sculptures displayed at Brain Extravaganza

On Saturday in the Bloomington High School South Auxiliary Gymnasium, 22 brain sculptures were on display for the launch of “Brain Extravaganza!” The display will be followed by the temporary installation of the brains throughout Bloomington until October.
