IU track-and-field Head Coach Ron Helmer announced Wednesday that four student-athletes have been added to the 2012 signing class.

Hoosiers send 16 athletes to NCAA Championships

The IU men’s and women’s track and field teams are sending a combined total of 16 athletes to the NCAA Championships after competing May 24-26 in the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla.

Performance program mentors musicians

For five days, musicians will flock to Bloomington from across the globe to partake in performance training at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Jeff Nelsen, founder and director of the Fearless Performance Seminar for Musicians, will head the program from May 30 to June 3.

I arrived in the city of Kaohsiung after a strenuous 18-hour flight straight from Chicago. Struggling with my rusty Mandarin, I stuttered my way through customs to drag my suitcases through the double doors and became stricken by the humidity, typical of the tropical island. Students experience "Quake Cottage" earthquakes

Indiana Geological Survey employees drove a truck outfitted with an earthquake simulator, nicknamed the “Quake Cottage,” on Thursday to the Indiana Memorial Union to help raise awareness about the dangers of earthquakes.

Top Indy 500 performers remember Wheldon for humor, not tragedy

The first Indianapolis 500 without Dan Wheldon brought together three of the funniest men in IndyCar. And it finished exactly the way Wheldon would have wanted. Dario Franchitti, Wheldon’s former teammate at Andretti-Green Racing, won the race. Scott Dixon, his former teammate at Target Chip Ganassi Racing, finished second. And his other AGR teammate and partner-in-crime in practical jokes, Tony Kanaan, finished third.

Yoga classes incorporate art, crafts

Beginning May 23 and running through June, children ages 3 to 8 have the opportunity to experience stories through yoga and art at the Mather’s Museum of World Cultures/Glenn Black Laboratory of Archaeology.

Man arrested in Lake Monroe drowning

An autopsy by the Monroe County Coroner’s office determined that a 29-year-old Anderson, Ind., man died Saturday at Lake Monroe from asphyxia as a result of drowning and choking. Victim Matthew Hosier’s death has been ruled a homicide by the coroner’s office, resulting in three arrests.
