Team on track for 10th top GPA award

The women’s tennis team is on track to win its 10th Herbert Cup, which honors the IU athletic team with the highest cumulative GPA during the fall 2012 semester. The team’s GPA was 3.69 during the semester, IU Coach Lin Loring said.

The nothingness that gets you through January and February comes from a pit — as in a peach — that responds with sad emotions because it seeks to get better. To be depressed is to work against something, and in each specific case, one must prod to find out what it’s working against and run to strengthen the opposition.

While the fact that children are being forced to perceive themselves, at least in part, as an aesthetic expression of their gender at younger and younger ages may not be breaking news,  it’s something we need to consider.

IU women eye another upset of No. 23 Huskers

On Dec. 5, 2010, the last time senior forward Aulani Sinclair played against Nebraska at Assembly Hall, the unranked Hoosiers knocked off the then-No. 19 Cornhuskers 67-61. It will be much more of a challenge for Sinclair to repeat that feat as a banged-up IU plays No. 23 Nebraska at 6:30 p.m.Thursday in Assembly Hall.

Virtuosi to play Carnegie Hall

Virtuosi, a group of 21 of the Jacobs School of Music’s String Academy’s best violonists, violists and cellists, ages 12 to 18, will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 11 in Carnegie Hall in New York.
