Hoosiers top Wolverines in late-game thriller

Locked at seven goals apiece, freshman Alexis Jones netted a last-minute goal to top rival No. 9 Michigan. The No. 15 Indiana women’s water polo team overtook its archrival Saturday in an 8-7 win.


Water polo team grabs 6 straight wins

The women’s water polo team won six matches in a row at the Roadrunner Invitational the weekend of March 10 at CSU Bakersfield.



Individual performers lead IU water polo team to Calif.

The No. 12 IU women’s water polo team, which touts the conference leaders in goals and saves, will make another road trip to California to compete in four matches at the Roadrunner Invitational at CSU Bakersfield.


Water polo team sweeps Colorado State Tournament

The No. 13 IU women’s water polo team will travel to Thorton, Colo., for the Colorado State Invitational. After an exhibition with the Calgary Renegades at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Indiana will face one-win Colorado State at 2:30 p.m. The Hoosiers will finish the weekend with a contest against 5-6 California State East Bay at 9 a.m. Sunday.


Water polo squad uses break to rest for four weekend matches

After an 8-3 season start, the women’s water polo team will travel to Troy, N.Y., for four weekend matchups. On Saturday, IU will take on Hartwick and Brown, while Sunday’s rematch with Maryland highlights the competition.


IU beats Maryland late for 5th place finish

The No. 9 Hoosiers trailed No. 17 Maryland by two goals entering the final quarter of the Triton Invitational on Sunday. Due to a five-goal performance in the final stanza, however, the Hoosiers defeated the Terrapins and claimed fifth place in the tournament in La Jolla, Calif., with an 11-10 victory.



Participants test out inner tube water polo, the newest recreational sport offered at the Student Recreational Sports Center. Campus Recreational Sports proposed the idea for the first aquatic sport offered at the SRSC and it is set to begin Feb. 7.

Water polo emerges as an intramural

Beginning Feb. 7, inner tube water polo will become the first aquatic sport offered as an intramural. This is just one of several new additions made by Recreational Sports, which is focused on revamping its intramurals.


Opponents wait for Hoosiers on west coast

The No. 9 Indiana water polo team will compete in its second tournament of the season as it travels to Santa Barbara, Calif., to play four games at the UC Santa Barbara Winter Invite, three of those against top-20 teams.


IU water polo team opens year with two victories

Water polo continues as IU's only non Big Ten varsity sport

Starting out as a club team, water polo made its way to becoming a varsity sport at IU. But without the Big Ten Conference recognizing the sport, the team will continue as the only varsity sport at IU to not compete in the Big Ten.
