After former IU player and assistant coach Caleb Porter led the Akron men's soccer team to its first national championship Sunday, former IU coach Jerry Yeagley said the Zips, not the traditionally powerful Hoosiers, are the now the standard for college soccer in the Midwest.

Wrestlers open Big Ten slate

The IU wrestling team is 6-0 this season in duals, but with the Big Ten opener against Northwestern on Wednesday fast approaching, the team is practicing harder than ever to keep up with its conference rivals.

IU kept Kentucky to just 36 percent shooting Saturday at Rupp Arena, but the Wildcats pulled down 18 offensive boards in total and outscored the Hoosiers 21-4 in second-chance points.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – IU played Kentucky tough for the first 30 minutes of the game on Saturday at Rupp Arena.Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, they fell apart down the stretch in an 81-62 loss to the Wildcats.

Column: Calipari’s recruiting strategy ultimately doesn’t work

When it comes to recruiting NBA-caliber talent to a college team, there is not a better head coach right now than Kentucky’s John Calipari.  But crafting a team around such top-heavy talent, while it may have success in the short-term, is not a sustainable long-term philosophy.
