Little 500 coach helps riders develop racing strategy

About 60 miles away inside the towering brick house on Third and Hawthorne in Bloomington live the Kappa Kappa Gamma cyclists who also call Naas their coach. After two years of racing in the IU Little 500 for Sigma Alpha Epsilon in the mid-1990s, Naas had run the fastest qualifications lap in Little 500 history, yet he left without a championship to his name.

Indiana suffered two crippling losses this weekend, with the Hoosiers being outscored by a total of 12-2 against two teams that were below them in the Big Ten standings before the weekend.

Cream, Mercury win Little 50

The start to the 62nd Little 500 week is officially underway. On Saturday afternoon, 47 teams took to the track at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex to participate in the 10th annual Little 50.

Cain, IU capture titles at Indiana Invitational

Co-captains senior Kristtini Cain and junior Kate Coons fired one-over-par 73s to move into a play-off for the individual title at the Indiana Invitational. They joined Ball State’s Jenna Hague and IU-Purdue University Indianapolis’ Lauren Kuss.

Hoosiers swept Sunday in home doubleheader

A 35-minute interval between games did not cool the Michigan State bats, as the Spartans wasted no time scoring four runs in the top of the first against sophomore starter Matt Dearden and senior reliever Drew Leininger en route to a 20-10 win.
