Colts coach to speak at clinic

This Saturday at 10 a.m. in Assembly Hall, Indianapolis Colts head coach, Tony Dungy, will be speaking at the IU Football Coaches Clinic. All IU students who wish to see Dungy speak may attend for free with a student ID. Dungy will be one of the speakers for the April 5-6 clinics, to which coaches throughout the Midwest are invited.

Defensive miscues cost the IU softball team another close game yesterday as they fell 5-4 in nine innings to Louisville. The teams were slated to play a doubleheader, but played just one game in expectance of inclement weather.

Bonds homers twice in opener

LOS ANGELES -- After getting off to a great beginning, Barry Bonds said he's more concerned about the ending. He was speaking of his team, not himself. Coming off one of the greatest offensive seasons in baseball history but still without a World Series appearance, Bonds homered twice and drove in five runs Tuesday to lead the San Francisco Giants to a season-opening 9-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Nicklaus withdraws from tournament

Jack Nicklaus, the most dominant player at Augusta National with six green jackets won over 23 years, withdrew Tuesday from the Masters because of lingering back problems. It will be only the second time since 1959 that Nicklaus has missed the Masters. He also skipped in 1999 when he was recovering from hip replacement surgery.

Returning to action after its first weekend of Big Ten competition, the IU softball team plays host to Louisville in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. today at the IU Softball Field.

The Big Ten Tournament is only one month away. With that in mind, men's golf teams around the Big Ten will be aiming to gain momentum as they head down the stretch. Here's a look at how teams have fared thus far: IU -- Best finish: third, Wolverine Invitational, Ann Arbor, Mich. Top player: freshman Jeff Overton, 75.3 average in 16 rounds.

From a fan's perspective

I feel funny. Something isn't right, and I haven't been able to figure out exactly what it is. This feeling started about three weeks ago, right around the end of spring break. And no, it wasn't alcohol poisoning. It started about the time the NCAA tournament started, specifically when IU began playing. I was out in LA with my roommates enjoying the nice California sun, and Thursday night we headed out to watch all the Hoosier action at a local pub.

Every February, the IU community hosts Spirit of Sport, which features non-stop sports competition, fitness activities, aquatic events, as well as special events and demonstrations. Terps' Dixon leads Maryland to title game

ATLANTA - Juan Dixon tied a career-high 33 points in Maryland's 97-88 win against Kansas in the second national semifinal Saturday night at the Georgia Dome. He is the leading scorer in the tournament with 27.4 points per game. Dixon has been in double figures in 53 straight games.

Hoosiers bounce back after Big Ten tourney

ATLANTA -- Senior Dane Fife sat with a stoic look on his face, looking straight ahead from the seat in front of his locker, still in his uniform 30 minutes after the game with Iowa had ended. Junior Kyle Hornsby was two lockers to Fife's right and in the same position.
