Golden opportunity

·

The disappointment was obvious. After the Hoosiers’ loss to Michigan last Saturday, IU coach Kelvin Sampson and his squad made a long walk out of Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. Nobody said much, but the silence spoke louder than any words could.

The men’s golf team started its spring season off with a win this weekend in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Club de Golf Santa Anita Classic two-day tournament. Cubs kick off spring training in Arizona

MESA, Ariz. – Jacque Jones was smiling when he showed up Saturday at the Chicago Cubs’ spring-training facility. The debate all winter in Chicago wasn’t whether Jones would play right field or center field for the Cubs, it was whether he’d play for the Cubs at all.

Hoosiers return home to beat No. 21 Kentucky

·

What a difference a few hundred miles make. The IU women’s tennis team spent last weekend in North Carolina, where the weather was comparatively balmy and everything happened according to schedule. Though very competitive, the Hoosiers weren’t able to upset either No. 11 Duke or No. 7 North Carolina.

IU hopes for successful follow-up to '06

·

The IU softball team begins its trek to what it hopes is a second-consecutive NCAA tournament bid when it kicks off the 2007 season at the Crowne Plaza Classic in Houston on Friday. The Hoosiers hope to build upon last year's historic campaign in which the Hoosiers earned their first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 10 years. Head coach Stacey Phillips said she wants the hunger from last year to remain but was quick to warn that this is a brand new year.

Hoosiers not phased by schedule change

·

Facing No. 61 DePaul without junior Thomas Richter and with senior David Bubenicek nursing an injured wrist was not going to be an easy task for the IU men's tennis team. If the No. 63 Hoosiers did not come ready to play, they very well could have seen an 'L.'
