The first game of the IU softball team’s doubleheader against No. 19 Illinois was a close loss, but the Fighting Illini’s powerful hitting crushed the Hoosiers in the second contest.

Sycamores trounce IU pitching

A rough day for most of IU’s mid-week pitchers and a sluggish offensive performance contributed to a blowout loss for IU baseball at the hands of an in-state foe and left the Hoosiers’  head coach displeased with the current competitiveness of his squad.

Kahn’s comeback culminates with award

Diving again was all junior Cassidy Kahn wanted. But during the past year, she has gotten more than that. Kahn’s accomplishments reached their peak for the 2009-10 season when she was awarded the 2010 Thomas A. Brady Comeback Award last week. The award is given to someone who overcame adversity or injury and returned to excel beyond expectations in their respective sport.

Clausen’s past puts him rightfully below Tebow

About a year-and-a-half ago, it was Tim Tebow standing at the podium, pledging to push his team harder than no one ever had in the past ­— to work harder than anyone ever had. And this past Friday, it was again Tebow at the podium pledging to the world.  Although this time, it was pledging to do something much more challenging than working hard or speaking louder — playing quarterback in the NFL.

Rain causes confusion, controversy during race

Black Key Bulls rider Jordan Bailey described it as “epic.” Phi Gamma Delta rider David Ellis said it showed who wasn’t going to quit until the finish line. Phi Delta Theta rider Nick Sovinski said he could have done without the wet cinders in his eyes. All 33 teams on the field had to fight through pouring rain and changing track conditions.

Crean: Cook Hall will leave recruits ‘blown away’

Assembly Hall has undergone minimal changes since it first opened in 1971. IU fans saw the addition of a $1.99 million state-of-the-art scoreboard in 2005. But very little else looks different from when the 17,456-seat facility first opened 39 years ago. Sunday afternoon, however, marked the dedication of the new basketball development center, Cook Hall.
