Aesthetic refuse

·

Salamanca, Spain, is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. My personal favorite travel guide, “Spain for Dummies,” raves that it is “gracious and beautiful” and “one of Spain’s loveliest and most enjoyable cities,” while an online travel site from the U.K. calls it “a city that is enviable.”

There were numerous blue and orange “#8” Chicago Bears jerseys on display among the crowd at Bloomington High School South on Thursday morning. The crowd of fans were anxiously awaiting a familiar face. Then, from the parking lot came former Indiana Mr. Football Rex Grossman wearing a purple polo. He returned to hs former school, Bloomington High School South on Thursday to take part in the Day of Champions celebration, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington.

Scooting justice

·

I’m thinking of a North Carolina man, a 25-year veteran and widely respected federal employee convicted of perjury, ordered to spend 33 months in prison for making false statements to investigators.

In defense of OneStart

With respect to your recent OneStart upgrade editorial, we offer a clarification. It’s easy to confuse OneStart itself with the services it provides; however, OneStart, like enterprise portals at most universities, is a delivery mechanism

Big Ten Network to launch in late August

·

The Big Ten Network is coming to you at 7 p.m., Aug. 30. Maybe. While this is the date the network is set to launch, who will see it remains a mystery. Viewers subscribed to DIRECTV are set for 24-hour Big Ten programming. Subscribers who use cable or the Dish Network, however, might be out of luck. No deal has yet been reached with many of these services, but Network President Mark Silverman remains optimistic.

Vegan diet patriotic

This Fourth of July, caring Americans can help win freedom for animals in factory farms by adopting a vegan diet. Animals value their lives just as we value ours. They yearn to be with their loved ones, feel the warmth of the sun, breathe fresh air and feel grass beneath their feet.

Groups students compete in summer intramurals program

·

For members in IU’s Groups program, the fun has finally begun. Last week marked the start of the intramural summer season for these students, which kicked off with two days of extreme dodgeball in the racquetball courts of the Student Recreational Sports Center.

Ann Coulter’s attack shows media’s bias

The conservative goddess Ann Coulter has stirred the muck again. Of course, if there weren’t so much muck available to stir, she’d likely have nothing to do. I don’t agree with what she said, but I do agree with her right to say it, as well as her severely overlooked purpose.
