What's in a tribute?

For the denizens of Ernie Pyle Hall, last week marked the anniversary of two people’s deaths, two people whose sense of humanity and range of accomplishment transcended the reaches of IU and the country. One was former Director of Student Media Dave Adams. The other was former Attorney General and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy.

Wrong Way does time at the Bluebird

But the documentary “TWISTED: A Balloonamentary” shows balloon artists invest a whole lot more than childish amusement into those fancy pieces of latex.

Indiana Methodist ministers come out against gambling at conference on campus

Indiana clergy members took a stand against gambling Friday. Literally. Inside the IU Auditorium, about 1,200 United Methodist ministers and lay leaders from southern Indiana rose from their seats in a standing vote to display their overwhelming approval of a resolution to lobby against the expansion of gambling in the state.

Assault on 11-year-old girl reported

A Bloomington man was arrested June 4 on charges of burglary and sexual battery. Brandon I. McCarey, 18, was arrested for reportedly entering a residence on South Rockport Road without permission. While inside the residence, McCarey allegedly forced an 11-year-old girl outside where she said he then groped and kissed her.

Grant allows IU professor to catalog historical Liberian presidential photos

In 2005, Verlon Stone, the coordinator of the IU Liberian Collections Project, was in Liberia at the estate of the country’s longest-serving president, when he and some others pulled out some photos that were in “pretty bad shape” along with other papers from the statesman’s collection.
