At least 108 dead in Australia fire

Police say the death toll from wildfires in Australia has risen to at least 108, making it the country’s worst fire disaster.

Capping executive pay

The Obama administration announced Wednesday new restrictions on compensation for senior executives at any firm receiving government assistance. The proposed restrictions would cap cash compensation for senior executives at $500,000 and subject the dispersion of privileges such as private jets and country club memberships to scrutiny by corporate boards.

When you turn on Top 40 radio, it might seem like robots are performing the songs. Don’t be alarmed. While those are synthetic, digital voices you hear singing about love in the club and sexual double entendre, this is not that desolate future from “Terminator” where mechanical overlords hold sway. That robotic voice coming through the airwaves is only the magic of auto-tune.

Crean suspends Dumes indefinitely

IU junior guard Devan Dumes has been suspended indefinitely, IU men’s basketball coach Tom Crean announced Sunday. During Saturday’s game against Michigan State, Dumes was ejected after picking up a flagrant foul. Dumes threw elbows to several Spartans during the 75-47 loss, including one to Goran Suton’s groin in the second half.

On a day when the Hoosiers had a lot to celebrate, the final score disappointed them. Senior Whitney Thomas became the second player in the women’s basketball program to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds
