Bradford Woods educates children

Bradford Woods Director Shay Dawson said if people grow up in Bloomington, they come through Bradford Woods. Since 1957, the 2,500-acre outdoor center has been run by IU’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism in the School of Public Health, and every year, elementary school kids visit the center.

The audience was silent as Judy Shepard recited the victim impact statement she read in the trial following her son’s death, 15 years ago. “He was my son, my first-born and more — he was my friend, confidant and constant reminder of how good life can be and also how hurtful,” Shepard said.
