IU falls to Cal Poly, shuts out Drake over weekend

A 1-0 loss to Cal Poly in which the Hoosiers admitted having no rhythm contributed to a poor performance — not the IU soccer standard. A shutout win against Drake including quick passes between IU players and domination of possession — the IU soccer standard.

Bruin wins weekly Big Ten award for hat trick

Bruin was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Monday, a day after he compiled his first three-goal game as a Hoosier in IU’s 5-1 upset of No. 5 UCLA.

Soccer faces Duke, Denver in Ft. Wayne

The IU men's soccer team opens against Duke at 8:10 p.m. Friday. The team will remain in Ft. Wayne for the weekend to play Denver at noon Sunday to wrap up the preseason.

Senior midfielder Daniel Kelly netted the Hoosiers’ lone goal with less than six minutes to play and narrowly avoided being shut out Sunday at Bill Armstrong Stadium. IU fell to Xavier, 2-1, in the their first exhibition game of the season.

Spain takes home their first World Cup

But it was in the 116th minute, that Spain’s Andres Iniesta slammed home a bouncing ball into the far corner and gave Spain their first ever World Cup Championship with a 1-0 win over the Netherlands.

Former Hoosier eyes roster spot for 2014 World Cup

With the American sports conscience fixated on South Africa and the 2010 World Cup for the last month, much talk has focused on how the U.S. team can improve upon its quarterfinal finish when the event moves to Brazil in 2014. And former IU standout and current member of the New England Revolution Kevin Alston hopes he’ll occupy a roster spot on the American team should it qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

Wake Forest player tranfers to IU

After spending two years at  Wake Forest, the former 2007 Indianapolis Player of the Year will transfer back to his home state to play for the Hoosiers.
