Hoosiers beat Bowling Green 75-67, stay alive in women's NIT tournament

The Hoosiers extended their season Thursday night with a 75-67 victory against Bowling Green in the third round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament. They will play in the round of 8 against the winner of tonight's Marquette-Illinois State game. For more information about the game, go to the IDS Above the Rim blog.

Students compete in Campus Super Star

The Helene G. Simon Hillel Center presented its semifinals for the Campus Super Star singing competition Wednesday. Out of 27 performers, 10 singers got one step closer to winning the grand prize of $5,000 at the finals April 19 at the Madame Walker Theater in Indianapolis.

Defeat has not been in the Hoosier’s vocabulary since last month. No. 45 IU suffered its first loss in March yesterday when they dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 19 Louisville.

What women really want

I’m sick of people telling me about my relationship. I can accept that Cosmopolitan magazine will always try to tell me any number of things I need to say or try in order to spice up my relationship, but when one of CNN.com’s leading stories is “What your husband isn’t telling you” or Yahoo’s front page is “9 signs he’s going to cheat” or “How to make him love you,” I get angry.

IU falls 7-6 in 11 innings

A walk-off home run in the 11th inning was the difference in the Hoosiers’ 7-6 loss to Xavier Wednesday in Cincinnati. It is IU’s seventh defeat in eight games. The mid-week loss dropped the team’s record to 7-14.

I had the good luck to travel to London and Paris over spring break this year. After a taste-bud killing night of airport fast food and gelatinous plane meals, I was ready to get my feet on the ground and get something delicious in my mouth.

Although she hasn’t maintained her rigorous practice schedule since college, Julia Kent has garnered both success and critical acclaim as a solo artist and collaborator, most notably as a consistent member of the band Antony and The Johnsons. Out of the array of musicians she has worked with, Kent said performing with Lou Reed was her favorite experience.
