America’s support of Israel is vital for peace

On Feb. 8, our IU Student Association Student Body Congress passed a resolution affirming support for Israel, one of America’s closest friends and allies. While debate on the resolution was heated, the resolution was overwhelmingly approved with a 26-5 vote.

Finances shed light on IUSA campaigns

With $4,450 in campaign donations and $3,675.31 in campaign expenditures, BtownUnited leads ticket financial activity. All tickets are required to submit biweekly financial statements to the IU Student Association Election Commission. These statements include itemized documentation of total campaign donations and expenditures, provided with receipts.

Two years ago, Caitlin Boyle had a bad day at work. She decided to do something simple for someone else to feel better and unknowingly launched a national campaign to promote self-esteem. Boyle started the Operation Beautiful website to encourage men and women to inspire self-esteem in complete strangers and in themselves.

IU names cybersecurity director

Von Welch was named the deputy director of IU’s Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research on Feb. 8. The position gives Welch the opportunity to start a technical applied cybersecurity program at the CACR, he said.

Roche buys biotech company co-founded by IU professor

Although the deal was sealed in late December, the details about leading pharmaceutical company Roche’s purchase of Marcadia Biotech, a small company specializing in treatments for diabetes and obesity, were officially released at Roche’s annual report during the first week of February.
