Thanks to a $25,000 grant from the City of Bloomington Investment Incentive Fund (BIIF), the Bloomington Playwright Project has been able to complete a makeover that has been in the works for nearly two years, Producing Artistic Director Chad Rabinovitz said.

Ukulele Club brings players together to share, play music

The Bloomington Ukulele Club began after the three founders — Campbell, Reina Wong and Linju Chen — took a beginner class together at the People’s University of Bloomington, which is a part of the city’s parks and recreation department, in 2010. On the last day, they didn’t want to stop playing together, so they formed a club and started meeting twice a month.

Indiana Senate approves creationism bill 28-22

The Indiana state Senate approved Senate Bill 89, which allows the teaching of religious-based alternatives to evolution science in public schools. The bill passed 28-22.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently introduced their newest nutrition guide, which is known as MyPlate. This semester, Residential Programs and Services is focusing on how students can incorporate this new food model and its dietary guidelines when dining on campus.

Birth control costs to be paid by employer

Religious institutions in all states will soon be required to cover free birth control for employees, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently ruled. Most new and renewed health plans will begin covering contraceptives Aug. 1, 2012.

Dominica — no, not the Dominican Republic — the country I was least excited and anxious to visit, had me head-over-heels in love. Trafficking bill signed into law
